gives them a chance to compete for superb prizes.

The Investment Game is organized by the Investment Fund of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, in cooperation with Rietumu Banka. The game will consist of two rounds, where only the top 500 performers in the first round will be able to compete for the grand prize in the second round. Each registered player will be given an opportunity to manage up to three portfolios, each worth 10,000,000 EUR. Contestants will be allowed to trade in more than 15 different stock exchanges and trade not only stocks but ETFs and financial derivatives as well.

The rules and conditions are the same as for the Investment Game. Teams of up to 5 will compete for the distinction of their represented organizations as well as the chance to win a valuable and prestigious prize — a pure gold coin.

For a number of years, the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga has been one of the World Economic Forum’s partner institutions and has participated in conducting the Executive Opinion Survey for the prestigious publication the Global Competitiveness Report. This year the SSE Riga team led by the Rector Dr. Anders Paalzow and Executive MBA programme director Dr. Karlis Kreslins surveyed more than 100 senior executives from large and medium size companies representing different industries in Latvia and Lithuania.

Out of 139 countries, Latvia was ranked as 70th this year (compared with 68th place last year) but Lithuania was ranked in 47th place (last year – 53rd). The most problematic factors for doing business both in Latvia and Lithuania are: inefficient government bureaucracy, tax regulations, access to financing, tax rates and corruption. If comparing different indicators both Latvia and Lithuania have high rank ings for trade tariffs concerning goods market efficiency (4th place). Latvia also received a high rank for legal rights index regarding financial market development (ranked in 6th place) whereas Lithuania is in the 9th place for flexibility of wage determination concerning labour market efficiency.
